OPEN CALL TO PLEIN AIR ARTISTS

“PAINT THE TOWN” ART EXHIBIT AND SALE
SPONSORED BY THE FARNSWORTH GALLERY, BORDENTOWN

Bordentown, NJ 08505 – The Farnsworth Gallery located in historic City of Bordentown at 134 Farnsworth Avenue is hosting its Premiere “Paint The Town” Plein Air Art Exhibition and Sale to be held over three consecutive days, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 13, 14 and 15. The event is planned to allow the amiable historic City of Bordentown to become an outdoor studio for a few days of painting by plein air artists. The wet paintings will be placed on exhibit and available for sale on Sunday, July 15 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Rail Road Avenue adjacent to the Farnsworth House

The “Open Call to Artists” by the Farnsworth Gallery is an invitation to all accomplished and aspiring artists of varying experience to come together for a few days of “Painting the Town” and to enjoy the outdoors in a scenic small town setting.

“We’re very fortunate that Bordentown City is rich in history while being a modern community. The area of the town is only about one square mile but it has charming residential neighborhoods showcasing many period architectural styles. Many historic private homes and public buildings can be found here such as the home of Francis Hopkinson a signer of the Declaration of Independence, the Clara Barton School House, and The Old City Hall with its landmark clock tower. The Gallery is within walking distance to the Delaware River and there’s a public access beach and boat ramp that may appeal to an artist for an impressionistic or contemporary original work of art,” says Martha Press, owner/operator of the Farnsworth Gallery.

En Plein Air is a French expression which describes painting done outdoors in the open air and on location. It is one of the most spontaneous and challenging styles of painting that an artist can experience. Bordentown in summertime is a paradise for plein air artists. “We’re fortunate that Bordentown has much to offer and that it is drenched in fabulous light during July. Dramatic sunsets can be enjoyed from the Bordentown Beach or at Hilltop Park,” added Vicki Gaudier, event coordinator. “Artists will be able to set up easels from dawn to dusk on each day of the event.

Artists that are interested in participating the “Paint The Town” event can request a “Paint The Town” Prospectus that includes an application, rules and information pertaining to art work creation, completion and sale by contacting Vicki Gaudier, event coordinator at vg302@comcast.net, or by calling 609-203-0541. An Artist participation fee of $30 made payable to The Farnsworth Gallery is required at the time of application submission and the application Deadline is Friday, July 6.

Martha Press, owner and operator of the Gallery welcomes the opportunity to meet potential Artist that want to participate in the Gallery’s special event. Please visit The Farnsworth Gallery in person to obtain a copy of the Prospectus at 134 Farnsworth Avenue, Bordentown, NJ 08505.
